Internal Bellows Type Seal

1. Insert ceramic/viton seat into seal plug with ceramic face up.  (use vegetable oil)
2. Carefully slide seal assembly on impeller shaft with rubber boot facing impeller blades, making sure that the rubber is pressing against the rear of the impeller and properly seated within carbon.  (use vegetable oil)
3. Insert impeller into seal plug.
4. Tighten the set screws, making sure that there is a minimal clearance (approximately 1/64") between the rear impeller vanes and the seal plug, onto the motor shaft.
5. Assemble gasket and volute case to seal plug and mount.

Double Mechanical Water Cooled Seal

1. Insert ceramic seat into seal plug with ceramic face up.  (use vegetable oil)
2. Insert ceramic seat into seal cap with ceramic face up.  (use vegetable oil)
3. Insert impeller into seal plug.
4. Slip spring with two carbon rotating faces onto shaft of impeller.
5. Place small gasket on seal cap.  Then slide both parts onto shaft of motor.
6. Insert seal plug into motor mount while sliding impeller onto shaft.
7. Tighten impeller 1/64" max. from seal plug with set screws flush against shaft.
8. Tighten seal cap to seal plug.
9. Assemble gasket and volute case to seal plug mount.

Reverse Mechanical Seal

1. Insert ceramic seat into seal plug with ceramic face up.  (use vegetable oil)
2. Insert impeller through seal plug.
3. Place boot with carbon facing ceramic and spring onto shaft of impeller.
4. Place spring retainer on top of spring.
5. Force spring down and hold in place with retainer ring.  Repeat 6, 7, and 9.
